Telangana CM KCR unveils 125-ft tall bronze statue of Dr B R Ambedkar on his 132nd birth anniversary in Hyderabad

World's largest 125feet Dr. B R Ambedkar statue unveiled in Hyderabad. CM Sri KCR and Amebdkar Grandson Sri Prakash Ambedkar participate in India’s biggest grand event.  

In tune with the vision of Chief Minister Sri K. Chandrashekhar Rao, Telangana State wrote another new chapter in the history of the country. On the occasion of Dr. BR Ambedkar‘s 132nd birth anniversary, CM KCR unveiled 125 feet giant statue of Dr. BR Ambedkar which is considered as the biggest one in the world.   Thus Telangana, as an ideal, started a new era in India.

An official from the chief minister’s office said the statue weighs 474 tonnes, while 360 tonnes of stainless steel was used for building the armature structure of the statue, 114 tonnes of bronze was used for casting of the statue.

 The overall cost of the project was estimated at ₹146.50 crore and the construction was taken up by KPC Projects Limited as per the agreement concluded on  3rd June , 2021.

 The pedestal on which the statue is installed has three floors with a total built-up area of 26,258 sq ft. This structure will house a museum which has several articles and pictures depicting the life history of Ambedkar and a 100-seater auditorium for presenting audio-visuals of Ambedkar’s life. A library will also be built in due course, the official said.

There are two lifts for visitors reaching the top of the pedestal to reach the feet of Ambedkar.

CM, accompanied by Ambedkar’s grandson Sri Prakash Ambedkar who is the chief guest, started from Pragati Bhavan at 3.15 pm and reached the venue on the banks of Hussein Sagar lake directly to unveil the statue. Buddhist Monks offered traditional prayers and invited CM KCR. Reaching on the stage, CM KCR and Prakash Ambedkar have a glimpse of the statue.

On this occasion, the Chief Minister went over the giant flower garland specially decorated to the statue of Ambedkar. The CM paid tributes to Babasaheb Ambedkar while chanting Jai Bheem when rose petals are falling on the statue amid big applause from people.

• Its location is not only a scenic spot but also adjacent to the Secretariat which is the state administrative building. The secretariat building also named after Ambedkar.
• There is also a Martyr's Memorial in front of the Secretariat. Next to it, in the middle of Hussein Sagar, there is a Buddha statue that Ambedkar believed in.
• All these are wonderful and encouraging structures.
• Ambedkar's statue, Martyrs' memorial and Buddha statue will inspire everyone including Chief Minister, Ministers and Secretaries who come to the Secretariat every day. Everyone should be influenced by seeing Ambedkar.
• The statue is designed in such a way that Ambedkar‘s path should be followed. Telangana martyrs who have sacrificed their lives are an example.

Above all these, Telangana Government has the honor of installing a towering statue of Ambedkar which is the largest statue in the world.
